Working my way through the big bag of apples I was given last weekend. Most of them have been stewed with cinnamon to go with my breakfast yogurt but made a big apple traybake too. Then I had a chocolate craving so made a chocolate traybake, I keep forgetting that traybakes are quite big, especially when there is only two of you. Good thing the apple cake can be frozen so we can have that warmed up on a cold autumn days and the chocolate cake was forced upon the neighbours.
I made this chocolate cake a while ago and finally got around to put the recipe on here. I find that the cake and icing cover are great but I keep feeling that the icing filling could be improved on. I think that it is to dens and slightly to hard for a filling so anyone who can suggest a better filling please let me know and I’ll try it next time.
Some girls at work had arranged a cake and coffee morning for Macmillan Cancer Support last Friday so I made a couple of cakes. As there was another event on the Saturday I made two of each cake. Apparently the almond cake (also known as Oscar II cake) was much appreciated. Also made my favourite the sticky chocolate cake with ganache think that went down quite well too.
Been given lots of apples and got some oranges the other day so feel some more baking coming on. I’ll let you know how I get on.
