Pelle’s Apple Cake

Filling:
5-10 Apples
1-2tblsp sugar
1-2tblsp cinnamon

Topping:
250g butter
2tblsp golden syrup
300ml sugar
450ml plain flour
1.5tsp baking powder

Double or whipping cream for serving

Preheat oven to 200oc and grease a very large and deep oven proof dish.
Peel and chop the apples and mix with the sugar and cinnamon before spreading out in a thick layer in the oven dish.
Melt the butter and golden syrup and fold in the remaining ingredients. Pat the dough/pastry between your hands 3-5mm thick and place evenly over the cake.
Bake in the middle of the oven for 30minutes, covering the cake with aluminium foil if the topping starts to get to dark.
